Job Description – Nursing Assistant Posts

Nursing Assistant Grade 1 to 3 (x5 Posts) The Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services invites applications for five (5) Nursing Assistant posts at Lentegeur Hospital. These roles are available at Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3 levels depending on your experience and SANC registration status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination.
  • Deliver elementary clinical nursing care.
  • Maintain proper documentation and communication.
  • Contribute to effective resource utilization.
  • Uphold professional and ethical standards.
  • Participate in in-service training initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • A qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.

Professional Registration

  • Registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.

Experience

  • Grade 1: No experience required.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after SANC registration.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after SANC registration.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work day and night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Ability to assist across all departments based on operational needs.

Skills and Competencies

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of nursing procedures, public service regulations, and health legislation.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to function within the scope of the post.
